Diffusée sur la télévision pendant plusieurs saisons, celle-ci a été intégrée au catalogue mondial de Netflix. Parmi les pays qui peuvent avoir accès à l’émission : L’Arabie Saoudite, l’Egypte et l’Iran. L’homosexualité étant illégale dans ces pays, l’émission subit ni contrôle ni censure.
Partant des sous-titres en arabe de l’émission, la série Sissy That Walk interroge sur la place du transformisme et le masculin / féminin dans le monde arabo-musulman. Dans une société conservatrice teintée de virilité, la transformation hommes en femmes ne semble ni choquer ni déranger. À mi-chemin entre le graphisme et la broderie, cette série est exécutée à la main sur du papier imprimé.
Rupaul’s Drag Race is a televised competition for the election of the "America's Next Drag Superstar". Aired on television for several seasons, it was integrated into the global Netflix catalog. Among the countries that may have access to the program: Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Iran. As homosexuality is illegal in these countries, the program is neither monitored nor censored.
Based on the show’s Arabic subtitles, the Sissy That Walk series questions the place of transformism and the masculine / feminine in the Arab-Muslim world. In a conservative society tinged with virility, the transformation from men to women seems neither shocking nor disturbing. Halfway between graphic design and embroidery, this series is executed by hand on printed paper.
